Description
The ring consists of an 18-karat yellow gold frame featuring a magnificent two-layer agate cameo in shades of white and bluish grey. The cameo, dating back to the Grand Tour era of the early 18th century, is adorned with an engraving of a male profile associated with a Greek philosopher facing left, the identification of which remains doubtful. Observing the cameo, therefore, it is possible to notice the incredible refinement of the engraving: the engraver, in fact, managed to restore great naturalness to this face, in which one can notice a meticulous workmanship of the hair and beard, as well as particular physical features such as the aquiline nose, such as to be able to make the figure alive and vibrant. The cameo, which has survived in excellent condition, is set inside a gold setting dating back to the late 18th century.
