The cameo refers to the Roman production of the 3rd century, is made of agate and inserted in a later 22-carat yellow gold setting. The cameo bears the engraving of the Capitoline Wolf breastfeeding two children, Romulus and Remus, of whom the first is remembered for being the founder of the city of Rome and its first king. Therefore, the choice to represent one of the most important moments in Roman history is to be read as an exaltation of the creation of the city that would become the centre of the Roman Empire.
