Ancient carnelian intaglio of the goddess Diana holding a bow in her right hand an reaching for an arrow from her quiver.
Diana in Roman and Hellenistic culture was the goddess of wild animals and the hunt.
Diana is a deity of Italic and Roman origin.
The name has the same root as "dius," probably from the Proto-Italic "divios," meaning "divine, celestial."
She was worshipped primarily as a caregiver to women in labor, like Juno, and was considered the protector of women.
Her main characteristic was her reign over the woodlands and her oversight of the lives of animals. Hence, the woods were the chosen places for her cult.
The setting is in 22kt gold
