Description

The ring dates back to the ’30 of the 17^th century and is characterised by a yellow gold setting in which table-cut emeralds are placed as a bezel, thus forming a rose connected by the larger central cabochon-cut emerald. This emerald is further enhanced by the granulation that serves as a frame, while the lateral emeralds are interspersed with drops of gold; the stem of the ring is also further embellished, on the shoulders of which two three-pointed leaves can be seen. In the lower part of the ring stem, however, the posthumous engraving “Louis XIII” is placed. The ring, ultimately, constitutes a precious and rare example of early seventeenth-century Italian goldsmith manufacturing, and any signs of the times are part of the centuries-old history of the object, undoubtedly worn throughout the various eras but which has survived to the present day in excellent conservative condition.
