The brooch, rectangular in shape, dates to the 19th century and is characterised by an 18-karat gold frame – decorated with a chiselled foliage motif – in which a glass micromosaic is set. The micromosaic is decorated with an image, of great value and rarity, of a Spaniel dog lying in the grass, a motif certainly inspired by the works of Antonio Aguatti, one of the most famous micromosaic masters in the Roman workshops of the Vatican.
