L’anello, realizzato in ferro e databile intorno agli anni Dieci del XIX secolo, presenta inciso uno stemma familiare di difficile attribuzione. Gli anelli sigillo rappresentano una delle tipologie di gioielleria più antiche e diffuse, caratterizzandosi per la loro continuità d’uso nel corso delle epoche. Tradizionalmente, tali anelli svolgevano la funzione di sostituire la firma personale: nell’antichità erano adoperati per autenticare documenti ufficiali, mentre nei primi anni del XIX secolo venivano frequentemente utilizzati per sigillare la ceralacca delle lettere, imprimendo il simbolo della famiglia nobiliare di appartenenza, elemento distintivo e motivo di prestigio.

The ring, made of iron and dated around the first decade of the nineteenth century, has an engraved family crest of difficult attribution. The signet rings represent one of the most ancient and widespread types of jewelry, characterized by their continuity of use throughout the ages. Traditionally, such rings served to replace the personal signature: in antiquity they were used to authenticate official documents, while in the early nineteenth century they were frequently used to signet the sealing wax of letters, embodying the symbol of the noble family belonging, as a distinctive element and reason for prestige.
