Questo magnifico micromosaico risale al XIX secolo, ovvero uno dei periodi di massima produzione dei micromosaici, la cui nascita risale al XVIII secolo in ambito romano. I micromosaici, composti da piccole tessere che li fanno sembrare dei veri e propri dipinti, si diffusero quale souvenir per i facoltosi partecipanti del Grand Tour. Questo particolare esempio riporta la minuziosa raffigurazione di un cane, simbolo di fedeltà e protezione, è estremamente rara poiché le raffigurazioni più diffuse erano sicuramente le vedute delle antiche rovine romane.

This magnificent micromosaic dates to the 19th century, which is one of the periods of maximum production of micromosaics, whose birth dates back to the 18th century in the Roman context. Micromosaics, made up of small tiles that make them look like real paintings, became widespread as souvenirs for wealthy Grand Tour participants. This example shows the meticulous depiction of a dog, a symbol of loyalty and protection, is extremely rare since the most widespread depictions were certainly the views of the ancient Roman ruins.
