Late Rococo Rose Cut Diamond Heart Ring

Period: late XVIII century

Ring size: 6 ½

Weight: 3,3 gr

The ring dates to the late 1700s and is considered an example of Rococo jewellery, as it features a teardrop setting that emulates the shape of the central stone, a rose-cut diamond. The ring is also completed by an outline of rose-cut diamonds, set in the silver and gold setting, which is further embellished by the engraving of a floral motif that unfolds in the stem. Emblematic is the use of rose-cut diamonds, a type of cut that became widespread starting in the 16th century and was particularly appreciated in the Georgian era: this cut has fewer facets and a flatter profile that leads to reflect less light but contributes to a romantic elegance perfectly in line with the Rococo style. The ring is preserved in excellent condition, any presence of marks or patinas are to be considered an added value of the preciousness and centuries-old history of this jewel.
