The late 18th-century ring consists of a miniature depicting a Georgian portrait, set in an 18-karat gold setting and protected by glass at the top. The miniature depicts a portrait of a young woman with vaporous and meticulously described hair, very fine facial features that highlight the whiteness of her complexion, and an elegant dress with a wide neckline, contemporary with the fashion of the end of the century. Portrait miniatures became widespread starting from the end of the 18th century, gradually replacing the Rococo portraits, typically circular and oval. The miniatures of this period, in fact, are distinguished by their octagonal shape, a marked curvature of the internal part of the ring necessary to shape the finger and, finally, a thin and rounded stem.
