Male silver ring, dating back to the I-III century AD, with a mythological engraving depicting a Faun, a Roman deity who embodies carnal and lascivious pleasure, who rides the personification of a phallus to which, according to the Greco-Roman tradition, were attributed similar qualities to the deities, as it was considered a source of life. The phallus, often winged, acquired the connotation of an amulet capable of protecting from disaster and warding off malevolent spirits. The two subjects combined together, therefore, certainly have a defensive function and, at the same time, allude to primary and vital forces.
